Annual Conference 2024: Opening Plenary

  • Energy Advice Horizons: Looking Back, Shaping Our Future

  • Join us for an insightful session as we reflect on another busy year for our energy services and set our sights on the path ahead. We'll celebrate our achievements, discuss the impact of our efforts, and provide a glimpse into the exciting direction of our future energy advice strategy.

    We will offer valuable insights into our collective accomplishments, including from pilots and advice projects. Following this, we will dive into a collaborative discussion on how we can work together towards a sustainable future for energy advice within the Citizens Advice network.

  • Come and have a morning coffee and a chat about volunteering. This session is for all volunteers, trustees and members of staff who are passionate about volunteering. It’s an opportunity to connect with others, share ideas and get inspired about volunteering.   • Shared areas of focus in mission 2: Improving access and experience for marginalised communities

  • Gaining a greater market share in Justice

  • There are lots of funding opportunities within the Criminal Justice sector. In 2024/25 we are preparing for a large tender opportunity to support those in Prison and those on Probation. During this session we'll share what we've learnt so far about how to secure funding. You will be able to hear from colleagues on what works, what to be aware of and the challenges to overcome. Join us as we begin to develop a short, medium and long term strategy to increase local Citizens Advice funding in this field.

  • Volunteer Recruitment: Come and find out about our plans to introduce a new centralised application platform

  • We are embarking on an exciting new project to develop a centralised platform for Local offices to recruit volunteers. We want to hear from colleagues involved in volunteer recruitment to understand what you’d want from a centralised volunteer recruitment system and how this could support sustainable volunteer recruitment in your local office.     Frontline Network support

  • The St Martin's Frontline Network is a free national network supporting frontline housing and homelessness workers with funding, training, events and resources. Coventry Citizens Advice has been a partner since 2017. In this session we’ll explain how the Frontline Network can help local office staff and connect them with the support available.

  • We’re about to embark on a new phase of brand-building to promote our brand and its attributes to elevate our presence, broaden understanding, build trust and win hearts and minds in order to ultimately drive support and advocacy.   • Value of volunteering research Q&A

  • Find out more about the research Citizens Advice has commissioned into the Value of Volunteering.

    The project is part of the Volunteering Transformation programme, steered by 20 local and national Citizens Advice colleagues to support local offices in the development of sustainable volunteering programmes, and to improve recruitment, retention and diversity in volunteering.

  • Designing and improving the intranet —
    how you can help

  • This session will cover how the national digital team designs and maintains the intranet, as well as explaining how all local offices can work with us to improve the platform.   • A whole system approach to advice and wellbeing

  • Imagine an all-age, 'living directory' of local health and wellbeing services in your area. Image district councils, voluntary services, advice agencies, schools, police, NHS, social prescribers, social care, ambulance services all using this 'living directory' to refer and signpost between different services? Image Integrated care boards funding. Image the data generated and analysed by MS Power BI. How embedded is local Citizens Advice? Does funding follow work?   • The hidden costs of helping
    (and how we can respond to them)

  • Helping others is a key part of most of our roles, and is often something which is a closely-held value. It can bring real rewards - and can also come at a personal cost. Compassion fatigue, the impact of clients' trauma, and guilt can all affect our own health and wellbeing. In this session we'll explore these experiences in a little more detail, and introduce some of the things which can help us as individuals and teams.

    Everything Cyber Security

  • We'll run through the main cyber security threats, how they're changing and what it means for your organisation, before opening up for questions from delegates. The session is for anyone to learn about cyber security - we'll keep the language accessible to all and explain the details that matter so everybody can follow the conversation.
