What’s your story?

As part of this year’s Annual Conference and beyond, as well as hearing from our clients, we want to champion YOUR Citizens Advice story.

Tell us your Citizens Advice story

Humans love stories. And at Citizens Advice, listening to our clients’ stories is at the core of what we do.

In local offices, online, over the phone and as part of the Witness Service, we create space for millions of people to share their lived experiences every year - enabling us to give advice and provide support that changes lives.

We also share the stories of our clients in our advocacy work and fundraising materials, demonstrating how personal narratives can inspire action. And as part of this year’s annual conference and beyond, we want to champion your Citizens Advice story.

Why are we doing this?

We’re fortunate to work with 19,000 volunteers and 9,800 colleagues across our service, representing a huge array of skills, experiences and backgrounds.

But often, we don’t get the chance to learn WHY people choose to dedicate their time, energy and expertise to Citizens Advice and the Witness Service.

By sharing the diverse narratives of the people who make up Citizens Advice, we hope to shine a light on our shared values - our common ground.

Hearing how you’ve made a difference in your role could lift someone else up, reminding them why their work matters. It could also provide powerful career motivation as they reflect on their own achievements and goals.

How can I get involved?

We’re inviting all volunteers and colleagues from all offices and services to share their story. These will be shared across our service both during and after conference, providing a sense of inspiration and community.

A shortlisted group will also have the opportunity to share their experiences at conference. If selected, you’ll be invited to a one-to-one workshop with a writer and journalist, where you’ll learn how to communicate your Citizens Advice journey in an engaging and impactful way.

Whether you’ve been volunteering for years or have just started working at Citizens Advice full-time, we’re inviting you to submit your story.
